The lockdown witnessed a rise in diversity of cases of substance use like anxiety, alcohol, sleep disorder, depressive symptoms and many more, says and an Indian medical expert.

In reply to Kanishk Gupta, Co-Founder, and CEO at Sukoon Hospital, clinically ruled by Fortis Healthcare, it was because of more ranges of socioeconomic insecurity, shift from conventional classroom to on-line instructing, zero social interaction or gathering to suspension of group activities.

Talking to IANS, Gupta mentioned, “It was also observed that the restriction in mobility and increasing trends of work from home affected many companies as the general productiveness of their initiatives in terms of high quality of work and inability to fulfill deadlines got affected. Entirely, the pandemic had a looming risk to many individuals’ mental and physical health, leading to increased uncertainty and anxiety. And people who recognized themselves as susceptible were, in fact, more depressed and anxious.”
